Éoliennes en Mer Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier
In June 2014, Eoliennes en mer Iles d'Yeu et de Noirmoutier was named winner of the tender to install and operate an offshore wind farm off the Vendée. EMYN is a consortium comprising Ocean Winds (a joint venture between ENGIE and EDP Renovaveis), Sumitomo Corporation, Banque des Territoires and Vendée Energie.
At a time when we are collectively fighting climate change, this project represents a tangible commitment to the success of France's energy transition, and contributes in its own way to preserving the planet.
The Île d'Yeu et Noirmoutier offshore wind farm will comprise 62 wind turbines, each with an output of 8 MW. With a total capacity of 496 MW, the wind farm is expected to generate an average of 1,900 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of around 800,000 people - more than the entire population of the Vendée.
The wind farm will be located 11.7 km from Port Joinville and 16.5 km from l'Herbaudière, on a seabed depth ranging from 19 meters to 36 meters.
