Miranda Merron wrote this morning...."Welcome sunshine after a rather busy, wet and very dark night with two consecutive cold fronts. I chose to go outside the verboten Traffic Separation Scheme as the sea state inshore must be truly impressive. Also, the wind accelerates significantly around Cape Finistere and there is enough here as it is, and the second front has stalled over the land 50 miles away - the sun has just risen above it. There are quite a few ships on this side of the TSS too. Short naps only to weave amongst the traffic.
Now to work out the quickest, but not necessarily the windiest route to Les Sables d'Olonne...

And speaking on this morning’s radio call….

"It's good I am passed the TSS. There is traffic here offshore but fortunately there are only cargo ships because there is too much sea for the fishing boats to get out. The sea is quite big because the seabed rises quickly. I need to gybe but right now I’d end up in Spain!”
“ The weather is super nice. I had two cold fronts last night, there was no visibility lots of cargo ships, so I didn't get much sleep, I need to recover today. I am constantly vigilant.”
I haven't thought about the finish at all yet. But it feels good to be in waters that I know well and I recognize everything on the map. It feels good. I will try not to have the same worries as Boris (Herrmann). That’s still something that worries me a bit.”
“ Most of the way up the Atlantic was tough, it was tough from start to finish. This is not something I would like to do again. But meantime Campagne de France is going pretty well. The pulpit is no longer attached and a couple of other small things, but nothing serious.”
“ I would like to arrive tomorrow night because conditions deteriorate afterwards. I'm going as fast as possible! I can't wait to see you again! "
