Leading the vanguard group at the back of the fleet, Jérémie Beyou, joined at 5am, is happy to swallow up the miles and sail with other competitors while taking care of his boat. The skipper of Charal is expected to round Cape Leeuwin in 7 days.

Contacted at 0400hrs UTC this morning Louis Burton explains that despite not being able to use his full sail area due to various problems, he is motivated to go fast in regatta mode with the group around him and to try and regain ground lost to the leaders.

Ruyant 'My Two Hatches Had Opened But I Thought History Was Repeating Itself'

Back on course after a scare which required him to stop his LinkedOut last night Thomas Ruyant explained this morning that his bow compartment filled up in less than 30 minutes because his hatches had been forced open by the water pressure.

Pacific Opens Up For Bestaven, Ruyant Back to Race Pace

After Thomas Ruyant suffered water ingress into his bow compartment and had to stop LinkedOut yesterday night (French time, Thursday morning local time) Yannick Bestaven now has a clear lead on Maître Coq IV as the leaders passed under Tasmania and across what is generally considered to be the western boundary of the Pacific Ocean.
